Set up boxes were first used in the 16th-century and modern folding cartons time back to 1839. The very first corrugated container was made in England. Scottish-born Robert Gair developed the pre- cut paperboard container in 1890—flat portions manufactured in volume that folded into containers. Gair's innovation took place because of this of a collision: being a Brooklyn printer and paper bag producer during the 1870s, he was once making an order of seed bags, along with the material ruler, generally used-to wrinkle bags, altered constantly in place and cut them. Gair discovered that by creasing and reducing in one single functioning prefabricated paperboard boxes could be made by him.
